Description
Hawkridge Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid to late 16th century, with alterations and additions from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries to the rear. The house is timber framed with brick nogging. Notable features include large arch braces on the first floor in the two bays to the left, and large curved tension braces on the ground floor in the central bay. It has an old tile roof with end stacks to the left and at the rear, and an L-shaped layout. The main part of the house has three framed bays, with a further two framed bays to the rear, which have been subsequently refaced. On the north front, the central first floor has a three-light stepped casement flanked by two-light casements in the end bays. The ground floor has two small 20th-century casements in the central bay, flanked by two larger 20th-century casements in the end bays. A single-story lean-to has been added to the right with a 20th-century casement. The entrance is to the rear.
