Description
Foudry House is a house built in the early 19th century, with extensions added in the late 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It features a mix of Roman cement and brick, topped with an old tile roof. The building has an irregular plan and includes a lower two-storey extension at the rear.
The south front consists of five bays, adorned with a cornice, string course, and parapet. It has sash windows with segmental heads, flat moulded architraves, and bracketed cills. The entrance door is six-panelled and is topped by a rectangular radiating fanlight, set within a small projecting porch that has an arched opening, architrave, and springers to the arch. The walls at each end curve back in a quadrant form, with the roof continuing around, and one bay is also curved. This curve is interrupted by a slightly projecting bay on the right side, which features a chimney.
Inside, the house boasts a fine early 19th-century staircase with turned balusters and a moulded handrail.
