Description

11 West Mills is a Grade II listed former almshouse built in 1817, which replaced earlier almshouses established in 1727 by Thomas Hunt for three widows of clothiers. The building is two stories high and features one window facing the road, with three additional windows on the return side. It has a hipped slate roof and a tall brick chimney stack. The brickwork includes a dentil eaves cornice, and the west return is tile-hung. The windows are Gothick style, with two lights, arched heads, and leaded glass. There is an elliptical sunk panel at the first floor level that bears a dedicatory inscription. Access to the building is through a side passage from No 10.
