Description
The Church of St. Laurence is a church built around 1883 by Sir Arthur Blomfield. It is constructed of flint with Bath stone dressings and has plain tiled roofs. The church features a nave, chancel, north transept, south porch, and a south-east tower. Notable architectural elements include corner buttresses, a plinth, a moulded string at cill level, and gable parapets.
The three-stage tower has paired recessed louvred lancets in the top stage and a tall pyramidal roof. The gabled south porch includes paired lancets on the west side and a two-light plate traceried window on the east side, which is set under a drip mould.
Inside, the church has a simple five-bay nave and a three-bay chancel. There is a two-bay carved timber screen leading to the north transept, and stained glass windows by Morris & Co., with the east window possibly designed by Burne-Jones. Additionally, medieval floor tiles from the original church are set into the wall below the tower.
