Description

Wellhouse Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse, now a large house, that has been altered and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is primarily vitreous brick with red brick dressings and old tile hipped roofs, with a flat roof in the centre. It has a double-depth plan and a 20th-century closed porch extension on the west side. The farmhouse is two storeys and has attics, with chimneys on the rear roof slope.

The west front has seven irregular bays and a blocked opening at the south end, with an entrance porch to the right of centre. The south front features three bays, with two bays on the first floor blocked and a 2-light casement window in the centre. There are two sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and one is blocked on the right. On the east front, an old Phoenix fire insurance plaque, number 6625, is located on the wall below the first-floor cill level, in the fourth bay from the left.

The interior includes cast iron fireplaces on both the ground and first floors, some of which have Delft tiles on the first floor.
