CHIEVELEY OARE Church of St. Bartholomew

Church. C15, almost completely re-built in Decorated style in 1852, probably by B. Ferrey. Flint with Bath stone dressings and tiled roofs. Gabled bellcote on ridge to west with cusped arched opening. Nave and chancel.

Nave: south doorway with four centered arch, carved spandrels and square hood mould with carved stops. Two-light square headed window to right with hood mould. Buttress at south-east corner.

West end: window of two cusped lights and quatrefoil above, with hood mould. North side with two two-light square headed windows and hood moulds. Central re-set C15 doorway with four-centered arch, carved spandrels and square hood mould. Buttress to north-east.

Chancel: south side with two-light window and hood mould. Three-light east window with panelled tracery and cross on gable above.

Interior: C19 fittings throughout.
