Description
God's House Gate is a gateway built around 1300, originally known as the Saltmarsh Gate and later as God's House Gate due to its proximity to a hospital for poor travelers. The structure features a double portcullis for defense. Above the gate is a three-storey tower called Lambcote Tower, which was used as a prison. The building is constructed of stone rubble and includes an arched gateway, with an adjoining three-storey building. The windows are designed with trefoil or cinquefoil-headed lights. This site is also scheduled as an ancient monument.
