Description

The shelter located at the north-east corner of Forbury Gardens in Reading is possibly from around 1855. This park shelter incorporates numerous fragments from the 12th century Abbey. It features a domed apse with two projecting walls that contain lunette windows. The structure is made of some flint and brick, but is mostly constructed from salvaged Caen stone and limestone ashlar, along with carved voussoirs and other fragments.
