Description

Kentwood Farmhouse, located at Kentwood Hill, is a 17th-century building, with its current structure dated 1723. It is a two-storey house with an attic, built of red brick featuring black headers and platbands. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles, and there are two off-ridge chimneys along with two small hipped dormers. The façade consists of five bays with segmental-headed cross casement windows, some of which include black header bricks in the voussoirs. The entrance features a half-glazed door set within a mid-19th century gabled porch.

To the north, there is a return section with three bays, a central blind bay that has a datestone marked "E D" and dated 1723, along with a blocked central door below. This section also has two small hipped dormers and timber in the gable end to the east. An extension from the late 18th century is located to the east, which is two storeys high and features grey brick banding and a brick block cornice. There is a hayloft lean-to to the south of this extension, which includes a bressumer for beams and a former pump recess below. Additionally, there is a two-bay extension to the south-east with grey brick strips and a high plinth.

Inside, the farmhouse includes a contemporary staircase with turned balusters, a wide ramped rail, and a straight string. The windows are made with oak mullions and transoms, featuring ovolo moulding, cast iron casements with shaped catches, and shutters. The north-west ground floor room has exposed beams and a wide fireplace with a small chamber off it. The south-west room boasts a circa 1780 'Adam' style chimney surround. The rear of the property has brick paving, and there are picturesque weatherboarded outhouses, with the east wall partly constructed of flint.
