Description
Grace Church is a Congregational chapel located at the rear of No. 119 Peppard Road, founded in 1827 from St Mary's Castle Street. The building is constructed of painted Bath stone ashlar and stucco, with the north side made of brick featuring flint hoods above the windows.
The chapel is designed in a plain Gothic style, characterized by a crenellated west tower that consists of three low stages. It features paired four-centred lancets with drip moulds on the north and south sides, along with a four-centred arch-headed doorway.
Inside, the chapel has a five-bay nave with triangular-headed lancets that include drips and moulded strings. The dividing wall is supported by buttresses.
Grace Church is recognized for its architectural significance as a good example of an early 19th-century Congregational chapel.
