Description
Hardy House, along with numbers 61 and 62, comprises three houses dating to the late 18th century. The houses are built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern. Number 60 has a hipped roof covered in plain tiles and a capped rendered stack on the left side. Numbers 61 and 62 each have a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, with a rendered stack on the left and a brick stack on the rear pitch.
The houses are three storeys high. Number 60 has two bays and includes a six-panelled door on the left side, with an overlight set in a panelled surround. Above the door is a Doric entablature with triglyphs. There are four stone steps leading to the entrance, and a sixteen-pane sash window to the left, set under a rendered, slightly cambered arch. A band is located at the first floor level. Number 61 features a six-panelled door on the right side, with an overlight containing decorative glazing bars, flanked by reeded pilasters with Doric capitals, a moulded frieze, and a pediment with dentils on the cornice. There are three stone steps to the entrance, and two twelve-pane sashes to the left, set under cambered brick arches. Number 62 has a five-panelled door on the right, with a female head knocker, a fanlight with swagged radial lead glazing bars, set in a round-headed panelled reveal with flanking pilasters, and an open moulded pediment. Head sculptures are positioned at each side of the pediment. To the left are two twelve-pane sashes set under flat brick arches. Four marble-faced steps lead to the entrance, flanked by scrolled railings. Twelve-pane sashes are present on the first and second floors, all set under flat, gauged brick arches. There is a brick dentil band above the second floor. Coped parapets finish the roofs. The interiors have not been inspected.
