Description

This is a pair of small, late 17th-century houses located on the south-west side of High Street, Stony Stratford. They have a steeply pitched roof covered in machine tiles, with two hipped dormers. The front was later refaced in brick during the 19th century and includes a parapet. The first floor has three windows – the two on the right are paired sash windows with four-centred arched heads, decorative glazing, and moulded brick labels. The ground floor has two bay windows, also with four-centred arched heads; the left bay window has five panes, and the right has four. A bay window on the left side extends to the first floor, containing a three-light sash window. The paired entrances are centrally positioned within a slightly projecting surround, and the doors are panelled with two panels each, set within four-centred arches. The buildings are part of a group with numbers 79, 81, 81A, 83, and 87 to 103 (odd), although numbers 99 and 101 within that group are of local interest only.
