Description

This listing describes a row of cottages located on the east side of High Street in Great Linford, known as No. 21 (Forge End Cottage), No. 23 (Forge End Cottage), No. 25 (Old Bakery Cottage), and No. 27. The cottages date from the 18th century and may incorporate some earlier materials. They are primarily constructed of red brick, with blue headers present at Nos. 21 and 23, while No. 27 is rendered. The cottages have an old tiled roof, with No. 25 featuring a steeper pitch and dentil brick eaves at Nos. 25 and 27. There are four brick chimneys on the buildings. The row is two stories tall and has seven windows, mostly featuring two-light designs with segmental arched heads. No. 27 has been modernized, while No. 21 retains some old leaded glazing. There are four doors and an open passage on the right-hand side of No. 21, which also has the lower part of an old stone chimney on its south gable.
