Description
This is a row of five small cottages dating from the 18th century, located on the south side of Bove Town. It is believed that these cottages retain some features of a late medieval farmhouse. The cottages are stepped uphill and built of painted brick with painted rubble plinths. They have a continuous pantiled roof with various brick chimney stacks, including one at the front of No. 84. There are five windows in total. The upper floor windows have paired casements in wooden frames, with intact glazing bars. The ground floor windows have segmental brick heads with keystones and are sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded wooden surrounds. The two door openings also have similarly treated heads, although the doors themselves are modern. The entrance to No. 84 is on the left-hand side. Numbers 80 to 100 (even), including No. 84a, together with the stone-flagged banks in front of Nos. 76 to 100 (even), form an important group.
