Description

Newfield Farmhouse is an 18th-century house, originally comprising a stone block to the east and a chequer brick block to the west. The east block has a tile roof and brick end stacks, with three small flat-roofed dormers. The west block has a concrete tiled roof and two brick stacks. The west elevation is two storeys and attic high, featuring a first-floor band and four bays with four-pane sash windows set within flat arches. A six-panelled door, originally set within a reeded surround with roundel corners and a flat hood, is now situated within a modern gabled porch in the second bay from the left, with a black brick panel above the door. The east elevation has three bays with three-light casement windows featuring stone voussoir heads and keyblocks. A central six-panelled door, in an early 19th-century surround of reeded oval pilasters, square corners, and a flat moulded hood over a rectangular four-pane fanlight, is also now within a modern glazed porch. A single-storey and attic wing extends from the north end, constructed of stone with an old tiled roof.
