Description

The Bletchley Central War Memorial is located on the south side of Queensway, outside Knowles Junior School. It features a tall column that is square in shape, with a flared base and a low pyramidal cap. The column is set on a pedestal with a two-stepped base. The front face of the column is decorated with an incised carving of a small reversed sword.

The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the pedestal reads "THE GLORIOUS DEAD 1914 – 1918." The dates "1939 - 1945" are noted on the foot of the pedestal. The names of those who died are carved into the right and left sides of the pedestal, while the names of the personnel from the Second World War are recorded on the rear face, below the dates 1939 – 1945.
