Description

The Old Rectory is a house built in 1851 by William Butterfield, with an extension added in 1875 that matches the original style. The building features red and buff brick, steeply pitched tiled roofs, and brick chimneys with heads that are corbelled on projecting headers. It has two storeys and an attic in the south wing.

The north front includes a slightly projecting gabled wing on the left with an added gabled porch on the right. There is a three-light mullioned window on the ground floor and two-light windows above, both with shallow pointed relieving arches. To the right of the porch, there is another three-light window, and two upper windows that break the eaves with swept roofs, which were added in 1875.

The south front retains its original gable on the right, with three-light windows on the ground floor featuring heavy shouldered mullions. In the centre, there is a large south wing with a hipped roof and flanking gables, which includes a large square bay window on the ground floor topped with a hipped tiled roof and a large pointed brick relieving arch above, with bricks laid diagonally in the tympanum. The first floor has flanking two-light mullioned windows and attic windows, all with pointed relieving arches. There is also a service wing on the left side.
