Description

Bretigny Cottage is a house dating from the 16th to 17th centuries, with later additions. The house is timber-framed with white-painted brick infill, and has a tiled roof, with thatch to the south wing. It comprises several wings. The central part is two storeys and an attic, with a door and modern casement windows to the front elevation, and two-light casements to each floor in the north gable. A single-storey and attic north wing has a half-hipped roof and modern casements. A two-storey west wing is built of colourwashed brick with one three-light casement window to each floor, each with a segmental arched head. A long, single-storey and attic south wing is timber-framed and thatched, with two leaded windows and two doors; it formerly served as a village post office and store. The east front is irregular, featuring leaded casement windows.
