Description

Manor Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house, with alterations dating to the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone and has slate roofs. The house is two storeys high and has three wide bays. A two-storey rear wing is located to the left, and a single-storey 19th-century wing is situated to the right. The front facade has a six-window arrangement, featuring a 19th-century door set within an open gabled porch positioned centrally, with a blocked window above. Five early 18th-century cross casement windows are visible, each with a shallow gauged stone flat arch above. These windows contain 19th-century glazing bars and opening lights. Other external details include an ironstone coved cornice, moulded kneelers, and coped gables. Brick gable and centre stacks are present.

The interior contains raised and fielded panelled partitions forming a rear corridor and dividing most rooms on both the ground and first floors. Dado rails are present on the outer walls. A right-hand ground floor room has a recessed cupboard with shaped shelves. An early 18th-century staircase is located within the rear wing, featuring turned balusters on the upper flights. An opening into the 19th-century rear wing incorporates a wide segmental arch supported by Doric fluted half columns, reportedly salvaged from Horton House, Northamptonshire. The house was built for the Lane family, who were Lords of the Manor from the mid 17th century.
