Description

Home Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with substantial alterations and a new facade in the 19th century, specifically 1849. The main facades facing south and east were refaced with ashlar, while the remaining walls are of coursed rubble construction. The roof is tiled. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with two bays in each wing. The west and north (rear) elevations retain 18th-century casement windows. The south wing features a six-panel door in the right-hand bay. Other windows on the south wing are 3-light stone mullioned casements on the ground floor, and 2-light casements to the first floor, with eaves breaking into stone gables. Lozenge pattern glazing bars are present. The north wing’s street-facing gable incorporates a canted stone bay window on the ground floor and a cross-casement on the first floor. A shield inscribed with the date "A.D.1849" is set within the gable. Coped gables with kneelers are prominent. A 17th-century ashlar stack is centrally positioned in the north wing, with a moulded base and caps. Similar stacks are present on the west and south gables, though rendered. The south gable of the south wing features 2-light casements, a stone plinth, and a brick gable.
