Description

This is a house, originally a single building but now subdivided into two properties, dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. Part of No. 47 is timber-framed, while the remainder is constructed of coursed rubble stone, all under slate roofs. The building is two storeys high and originally comprised four bays, now divided into two two-bay houses. No. 49 features a front door sheltered by a slated hood, a three-light casement window above, and two further two-light casement windows on the first floor. A dormer gable facing the road contains a doorway with a modern porch, two-light casement windows, and a gable stack. No. 47 has a central door behind a rustic porch and three-light casement windows. The east gable and rear elevation are rendered over 17th-century timber framing. A notable early 17th-century brick stack, featuring a moulded plinth and a plain square flue, is situated at the junction of Nos 47 and 49. Internally, No. 49 contains a chamfered fireplace lintel that has been partially cut. No. 47 includes chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and a fielded-panelled hallway dating from the early 19th century. The house's 17th-century timber framing is a rare survival in this part of Buckinghamshire.
