Description

The Old School House is a small 2-storey house built in 1857 in the Gothick style, featuring a single-storey schoolroom wing to the south-west. The building has two and three-window arrangements and is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings. It has a slate roof, with the main block displaying two gables and a longer two-storey gabled projection on the left. The gables are coped and have moulded kneelers. There are two trefoil-headed lancets, one on the right and one in the first two bays of the schoolroom. The house has two paired brick chimneys with stalks that are joined at the capping. Access is provided by steps leading to a projecting porch with a pointed arch, and the stone recessed doorway is also pointed. The schoolroom wing consists of three bays and has a slate roof with a pointed cap on a central vent and a capped belfry to the west. A tracery window is located at the west end, and there is an extension to the south with an entrance that has steps leading up to it.
