Description
Twydall Barn, now a house, dates back to the 15th century and was converted around 1985. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding, a brick plinth, and a tiled half-hipped roof. The barn has a rectangular five-bay layout that originally included a central threshing floor.
The exterior is single-storey with a seven-window range. A tall former cart entrance is centrally located, featuring a hipped projecting canopy that has been glazed. There are six small inserted windows and 20th-century roof lights, with boarded doors at the eastern end.
Inside, the barn showcases a fine five-bay aisled frame with a crown post roof. This includes stopped and chamfered crown posts with four upward braces each, as well as arcade posts, low outer wall posts with jowls, arcade plates, tie beam braces, aisle braces, and rails.
Additionally, there is an attached flint and brick wall that encloses the eastern yard.
