Description

West Moor Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of painted brick, with brick ridge stacks and a tiled hipped roof. The building originally had a single-depth plan, and now includes 19th-century service wings at the rear and a connecting outshut.

The two-storey and attic house has a five-window front. The asymmetrical facade features a plinth, a plat band, and deep overhanging eaves. A central doorway is sheltered by a flat, bracketed canopy, and contains a door with four reeded flush panels, the upper pair being glazed. The windows are largely 19th-century tripartite sashes; the central window typically has a 6/6-pane lower sash, and some have 8/8-pane sashes. Some windows have been blocked. Dormers with 2/2-pane sashes light the attic. The rear has a lower two-storey range, with a doorway set beneath a tripartite window in a side wall. An altered window is present in the projecting end gable. A 20th-century two-storey block is also present, along with a deep lean-to roof. The interior of the farmhouse was not inspected.
