Description
The Old Parsonage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with a 19th-century extension on the left and alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a large central ridge stack on the rear roof, along with a tiled roof that has two hips at the front and an axial rear connecting ridge.
The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range. It is double fronted, with a plat band running around the building and projecting rafters. The central entrance has a 20th-century timber doorcase that includes an architrave, a bracketed pediment, and a panelled door. Flanking the entrance are segmental-arched windows on the ground floor, while the first floor has a 20th-century tripartite 6/6-pane sash window and two casement hipped dormers. To the left, there is a mid-19th-century projecting service block made of similar materials, featuring a hipped roof, left-hand stacks, and a 20th-century three-light casement window at the front. The left-hand return may include a hipped stair tower.
The interior has not been inspected. The house may represent an early form of a double-pile house, notable for its large central stack.
