Description

This is an early 16th-century hall-house, originally part of a row of cottages. It has been altered in the later 16th century, the 17th century, and the 19th century and is now used as a restaurant. The building is timber-framed and has a brick ground floor, with weatherboard cladding on the first floor. The roof is tiled, with a hip to the right and a gablet and half-hip to the left. It is two storeys high. The first floor has an irregular arrangement of six windows featuring casements. The ground floor has seven windows, with four on the left side forming arcaded shop windows. In the centre is a double-height, half-glazed door, and boarded doors are situated to the left and right. The interior retains substantial timber framing, as well as two large fireplaces with oak bressumers.
