Description
Hayward House is a Grade II listed building, constructed in 1823 and modernised in 1961. It was designed by Robert Baker and built by the trustees of Sir John Hayward, funded by the proceeds of a lengthy lawsuit involving the parish. The building is made of red brick and features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. It has a single depth range and stands three storeys tall. The facade is symmetrical, with three bays on either side of a central entrance bay, which includes inscription panels. A brick band runs between the upper floors and extends to either side. All windows have glazing bars, and there is a glazed door from 1961. Fire escapes are located at both ends of the building. The rear features modern casements, mostly within the original openings, while the right-hand end wall is rendered and there are two large internal stacks at the rear.
