Description

This is a row of three late 18th-century houses, likely built around 1790, located on Union Street, Rochester. The houses are attached to Troy House. They are constructed of brick with Welsh slate hipped roofs and follow a double-depth plan. Numbers 2, 4, and 6 have 2, 3, and 4 window ranges respectively, although the side windows of number 6 are blocked. The houses have three storeys, with number 2 having a fourth storey. A parapet runs along the top, incorporating a cornice band and stone coping. The windows are hornless sashes, with those in numbers 4 and 6 featuring glazing bars. All windows are set within flat, rubbed-brick arches. Number 2 has tripartite sash windows on the first two floors, with a single four-pane sash window on the third floor. Numbers 2 and 4 have recessed, round-headed doorways with an impost band; number 4 retains its original fanlight and panelled door. Number 6 features a pedimented architrave to its doorway, with panelled reveals and a door. Sash windows are also present to the rear of the properties.
