This is a water hydrant located opposite Fairview, built in 1887. It is made of cast iron and stands about 3 feet high. The hydrant features a fluted column on a moulded base, topped with a domed fluted cap that has an acorn finial. Below the cap, there is a lion's head mask, and a knob is positioned on the left-hand side. This hydrant is part of a series of water hydrants in Whitwell.
