Description

Strathwell Dale and Brading Cottage are two cottages, initially built as three separate dwellings, dating from the early and mid-18th century. Strathwell Dale is the earlier of the two, constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble with ashlar quoins and a slate roof. It has a gabled front with kneelers and three gabled dormers featuring herringbone brickwork. The ground floor retains original 18th-century surrounds with keystones, although the windows themselves are 19th-century casements. A 19th-century four-panelled door is set within an 18th-century architrave with a keystone, and there is a plinth at the side. Brading Cottage, of the mid-18th century, is built of Isle of Wight stone rubble with red brick dressings and a tiled roof, and has two casement windows on each of its two storeys.
