Description
Stroud House is an 18th-century house located in Freshwater. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble, featuring some red brick dressings, and has a slate roof with end brick chimneystacks. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys with a total of six windows on the front, arranged as four on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The first-floor windows are early 19th-century 16-pane sashes, while the ground-floor windows date from the mid-19th century and have vertical glazing bars and horns.
At the center of the house, there is a wooden gabled trellised weather porch, which is adorned with a paterae surround, panelled reveals, and a six-panelled door that includes two glazed panels. The gable ends of the house feature kneelers. There is a stone outshut and a mid-19th-century brick extension at the rear, along with a 20th-century concrete extension on the left side.
