Description
Kilmurry is a villa built around 1830 to 1840, located on Castle Street. It is three storeys high and has a stucco facade with a low-pitched hipped slate roof and an eaves cornice. The building features four windows, with two in the central main block that are flanked by pilasters. There are two-storey wings on each side that are set back, each with one window, a cornice, and a parapet. The windows are recessed, and on the second floor, they are sashes with later glazing bars. A continuous cast iron balcony extends across the first floor and wraps around onto the wings, supported by slender iron columns, with a hood over the central portion on similar columns. French windows are present on both the first and ground floors, and there is a verandah on the ground floor with a recess beneath the balcony of the wings. Kilmurry, along with Nos 22 to 24 and Nelson Mansions at the corner of Nelson Place, forms a group.
