Description
Chine House is a house built around 1830, as shown on the 1842 Tithe map. It is finished in stucco with incised lines over irregular rubble and features a shallow hipped slate roof with broad eaves. The building consists of two parallel ranges and has two storeys, with a raised basement at the rear. The main facade has three windows, with a lower extension containing one window on the left side. The main part of the house has three 12-pane sash windows set in reveals. A central portico features a dentilled cornice and chamfered piers, leading to a six-panelled door, where the top two panels are cut away and glazed. The garden front includes two full-height bow windows, a verandah, and a wrought-iron canopy that was formerly glazed, spanning the ground storey. At the rear, French doors flank the central entrance, with three 12-pane sash windows above and three tall brick chimney stacks. Inside, the main part has a central hall or passage with two rooms on each side. The original staircase features plain stick balusters, and some original window shutters remain. There is also one original chimney piece in the left-hand rear bedroom, which has incised fluting.
