Description
Perreton Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, which was refaced in the 18th century and had its windows altered in the early 19th century. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high. The north wing is constructed of red brick featuring grey headers in a diaper pattern Flemish bond. The roof has lower courses made of stone slates, while the upper courses are tiled. There are five windows, which are two or three-light casements. The ground floor includes two canted bays with three lights each, containing 30 panes of glass. The central entrance features a mid-19th century doorcase with a flat wooden hood supported by brackets, and a three-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed. The right side of the north wing has stone quoins. The left wing is made of stone with red brick dressings and has a tiled roof. It contains three 20th century casements set in old window surrounds and has a central modern gabled porch. The south gable displays a datestone from 1668 with the initials L.B., which stands for Levinus Bennett of Arreton Manor. On the first floor, there is a 16-pane sash window, and the ground floor features an 18th century three-light mullioned window. The Victoria County History considers this site to have been the Domesday manor of Presletone.
