Description
Simeon Street features a row of gothicized small semi-detached houses built around 1840 to 1850. These two-storey homes are constructed from coursed rubble with rendered quoins and have gate end slate roofs. The centre of the ridge is adorned with doubled yellow brick stacks, flanked by projecting strips and a double dentil cornice. Each house includes a projecting gabled bay with ornamental bargeboards and pendant finials, and there is a band between the storeys on the bays. Each bay has one window, with a blind window in the recessed centre. The windows are recessed two-light casements with mullions and transoms, featuring broad rendered surrounds, block sills, and drip moulds above, except for the first-floor blind central window. The single-storey entrance bays are set back on the sides and feature four-centred arched entrances. The recessed doors, shaped similarly, are set back in porches and have full-length fielded panels. Notably, No. 6 has leaded casement lights, while No. 7 has modernized windows.
