Description
This is an early 19th-century townhouse with a shop. A rear extension was added in the 1960s.
The building is rectangular, with a front range facing High Street and a long rear range. Like other historic buildings along High Street, the plot retains its original width.
The front (south) elevation has three storeys and four bays. The front is rendered, with the ground floor housing a mid-20th century shopfront. The shopfront has features like risers and a fascia. A recessed entrance has a modern quarry-tiled floor, and a canted display window is located on the east side. Plain, panelled pilasters are positioned on either side of the shop unit. A recessed doorway on the west side of the shopfront also has a modern quarry-tiled entrance and fascia panel. The two upper floors each contain four recessed six-over-six timber sash windows with block sills. A raised plat band runs horizontally across the elevation between the first and second floors. A narrow timber soffit is visible at roof level.
The building has a slate-covered pitched roof to the front range and a clay-tile roof to the rear range, set upon a rendered brick structure.
