Description
No. 146 on High Street is a late 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall, constructed from chequered brick with rubbed brick dressings. It features a steeply pitched gable end roof covered with scalloped slates and has a projecting red brick eaves cornice. The facade includes three windows, with the center window being blind on the second floor. The windows are recessed sash types with glazing bars, block sills, and flat rubbed brick arches. The ground floor has a late 19th-century shop front with panelled pilasters, while there is also an early 19th-century doorway to the west. This doorway is recessed and consists of six fielded panels, two of which are glazed, with panelled reveals, fluted Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. Nos. 143 to 147 form a group.
