Description
62 Crocker Street is a Grade II listed building, dated 1761, that was formerly a school. It is a good example of a mid-18th century house with three storeys, constructed with purple grey headers. The roof has a low pitch gable end covered in slate, featuring an eaves cornice made of projecting grey headers. The building has four recessed sash windows with glazing bars, block sills, and flat red brick arches.
On the first floor, there is a niche in the center with a rendered surround that originally held a wooden female figure. The entrance features a recessed door with four fielded panels and a semi-circular fanlight with swagged radial glazing bars. The doorcase is notable for its reeded three-quarter Doric columns, panelled reveals, and soffit, topped with an open dentil pediment.
