Description

The buildings at 29-35 George Street comprise a group of cottages set back from the street, accessed via a passageway between numbers 27 and 45. Number 29, originally a separate cottage, dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of painted brick, with a gable-ended slate roof. It has two windows with recessed sash windows lacking glazing bars, and block sills. The recessed front door features six incised panels, and is sheltered by a gabled porch. Numbers 31, 33, and 35 form a single house, dating from the early 19th century. They are built of red brick with grey headers and red brick dressings, and have a low-pitched hipped slate roof with shallow eaves. There are three recessed sash windows, retaining their glazing bars and block sills. The three front doors are recessed, two with six moulded panels. Number 33 is flanked by Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice; number 35 has a plain doorcase and a bracketed hood. Numbers 29 to 43 (odd) are grouped together.
