Description

Shandon Shore House is a pair of houses dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The eastern house, known as Shandon, is constructed of red brick and features a tiled roof that includes a band of five courses of fishscale tiles, along with end brick chimneystacks that have moulded coping. It is two storeys high and has three windows. The stone coping on the parapet and a brick stringcourse enhance its appearance. The windows are mid-19th century sashes with verticals only and horns. The entrance features an early 19th century open pedimented doorcase with brackets, reeded pilasters with paterae, panelled reveals, and a six-panel door, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. There is a 20th century extension to the east that uses similar materials, and an L-shaped wing at the rear.

The Shore House, located to the west, is also made of red brick, with the ground floor constructed in English bond. It has a tiled roof and a gable end with brick kneelers and brick bond between the floors. This house is two storeys tall and has one window, featuring a 16-pane sash on the first floor and a four-pane window on the ground floor. The entrance has an early 19th century doorcase with a curved open pediment supported by wooden brackets, a reeded surround with paterae, panelled reveals, and a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed. There is a lean-to extension to the left, made of a brick base with stone rubble, and a 19th century brick extension at the rear.
