Description
The Griffin Public House is a public house built in the early to mid 19th century as part of the Worsley estate, designed in a Gothic style. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble and features a slate roof with three clustered stone chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and three windows, with two projecting end gables that have fretted wooden bargeboards, pendants, and finials. The central section includes a smaller gabled dormer with similar decorative elements. The windows are stone mullioned, resembling those from the 17th century. There is a plinth and a central doorcase with a four-centred arch, flanked by sidelights and topped with the Worsley crest. There are 20th-century additions to the building that are not considered of special interest.
