Description

Syringa is a house located on the south-west side of High Street in Godshill. It dates from the late 17th century but was refronted in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of Isle of Wight stone rubble, with the front elevation featuring coursed stonework. It has a slate roof and end brick chimney-stacks. The house is two storeys high and has three windows on the front elevation. These include three early 19th-century sash windows, primarily with 16 panes, although the central window on the first floor has 12 panes. All windows have moulded architraves, and some include horns. The front entrance features a central four-panelled door, while there is a six-panelled door on the left side, with the top two panels being glazed. The right side elevation has two 17th-century mullioned windows with later casements, along with two blocked mullions. A stone buttress is present on the left-hand corner.
