Description
The Print Shop and The Coffee House is a pair of shops with accommodation above, dating from around 1860. The building is finished in stucco and features a slate roof with central brick chimneystacks. It stands three storeys high, with four windows facing The Square, two windows on Quay Street, and one blank window on the splayed corner. Most of the windows are 16-pane sashes.
The Print Shop includes two sashes with horns and has a mid-19th century shopfront that features early 20th century decorative glazing at the top, along with a mid-19th century surround that includes a cornice and pilasters. There is also a six-panelled door on the left side. The Coffee House has a round-headed doorcase on the left side with a 20th century door, and it retains its original mid-19th century shopfront, which is adorned with a dentilled cornice, pilasters, and three large panels for each shopfront.
The corner of the building is highlighted by an elaborate 19th century lamp bracket and lamp, complete with a finial and decorative top. This building is included for its group value.
