Description
Coombe Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with red brick dressings and features a slate roof with brick chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and attics, with three windows. The windows are sashes with cambered head linings, and there is one 19th-century window that has verticals only and horns. The ground floor includes two tripartite windows. A central gabled weather porch with a slate roof is present at the front. The rear elevation features two flat-roofed dormers, two casements, one cambered headed sash, and a doorcase on the right side with a plank door. There is also a later outshut. Inside, the farmhouse contains spine beams with lambs tongue stops and an early 18th-century door with an L hinge. This farmhouse is one of the original Domesday Manors and was likely built by the Barringtons of Swainston Manor.
