Description
Yard Cottages, formerly known as Marsh Green, is a pair of cottages that were originally a farmhouse built in 1607. The structure is made of Isle of Wight stone rubble with ashlar quoins and features a tiled roof that is hipped at one end and gabled with kneelers at the other, topped by a brick chimneystack. The building has a three-bay lobby entrance design and stands two storeys tall with five windows. The stone mullioned windows, some of which have been restored with cement, include configurations of one, two, or three lights. The ground floor features two three-light mullioned windows and two end doorcases with brick surrounds and hood mouldings, while the central doorcase has been blocked in cement. The rear elevation also displays mullioned windows. There is a 19th-century single-storey stone rubble extension at the rear.
