Description
These are semi-detached villas built between 1830 and 1832, with later 19th-century replacement windows. The architect was C.A. Busby. They are constructed of stucco over a rubble and brick core, with a hipped roof covered in bitumen and felt sheeting, and overhanging eaves. The buildings are three storeys high, including a basement, and have a 1:3:3:1 bay arrangement. They feature a double bow front, with entrances in the outer bays. The ground floors are rusticated, with flat string courses, and the windows are sash windows, mostly without glazing bars. Continuous canopy hoods are supported by cast iron and provide shade to the first-floor French casement windows, which have cast-iron balconies below. Pilaster porches with flat roofs and bottle balustrades lead to early 19th-century studded and panelled doors, which have inserted lights. A long, six-bay return is visible on Alice Street, featuring irregular window placement. The railings attached to the property are also listed.
