Description
This is a terrace of three houses built between 1830 and 1833, later altered in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The design is attributed to C.A. Busby. The houses are constructed of stucco over brick and rubble with bitumen-covered slate roofs. They form a U-shaped group within Lansdowne Square, comprising three short terraces. The central block of three bays projects slightly and features giant Corinthian columns supporting an entablature and shallow pediment, which extend into the second or attic storey. The second storey has two-light casement windows on either side. The entablature continues in the bays adjoining the central one, with Corinthian pilasters. The outer bays are recessed and provide entrances to numbers 4 and 6. Most windows are sash windows without glazing bars, except for the ground floor of the two bays on the right, which have French casement windows. A stucco balustrade runs across the front, with pediments on the outer bays, one on the right incorporating an inserted canted bay. Entrances are approached by short flights of steps. The original iron railings extend from the entrances along the street frontage, with gates leading to basement areas.
