Description

This is a villa built in the 1880s by William Willett. It is constructed of yellow stock bricks, with an elaborate use of moulded and incised brickwork for cornices, aprons, string courses, and lintels. The basement is rendered, and the roof is slate, with 20th-century dormers and a central ridge as well as end stacks that form a continuous wall. The house has a double-fronted plan. It is two storeys high, plus an attic over a basement, and features a 3:1:3 bay arrangement with full-height bays flanking a central bay. The windows are sash windows without glazing bars, set within segmental-headed openings, with cills on shaped brackets. A round-arched entrance is supported by rusticated piers with ornate capitals, leading to a recessed panelled door with a fanlight and sidelights, approached by a shallow flight of steps. The building is part of a group of buildings designed by Willett, located along The Drive.
