Description

A pair of semi-detached villas, now converted into flats, dating from the 1880s and designed by William Willett. The houses are built of yellow stock brick, with extensive decorative brickwork used for cornices, string courses, aprons, and lintels. The basement is rendered, and the roof is a 20th-century mansard style with bay windows, dormers, and brick ridge and end stacks forming a continuous wall with windows between.

The buildings are three storeys high plus an attic, and feature full-height canted bays in the centre, with windows above porches on either side. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars set within segmental arches. Cills are supported by shaped brackets. The open rectangular porches have entablatures resting on part-banded columns. The front door to number 52 has a 20th-century canted glazed projection, while the door to number 54 is a six-panel design. Railings are present on the sides of the porches. The buildings are listed for their contribution to the group value of the area.
