Description

Numbers 5, 6, and 7 Cavendish Place are a group of three terraced houses built around 1829. The houses are constructed of stucco, and the roof is hidden behind a parapet. Numbers 5 and 6 are each two windows wide, while number 7 is three windows wide. The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication, and features a flat-arched entrance with an overlight. All windows are flat-arched. Numbers 5 and 6 incorporate two-storey segmental bays with triple windows to the ground and first floors; the first-floor window of number 6 is offset slightly. Giant Corinthian pilasters are placed between the windows on the first and second floors, although these are missing on the right side of number 5. A storey band separates these floors, above which is an entablature. An attic storey includes pilasters between the windows. The central window of number 7 is blind. The windows in numbers 5 and 6 retain their original sash designs throughout. The houses have a cornice and a blocking course, with stacks to the party walls. The interior was not inspected. Cast-iron railings with spearhead finials are present to the steps and area. Number 7 was added to the list in 1971.
